A decade of dedication to extraordinary sound

Boyer Audio began in 2016, when Guillaume Boyer established the Shunyata Distribution Company to represent Shunyata Research in the UK. What started with a single manufacturer has grown into a carefully curated portfolio of seven exceptional high-end audio brands, united by a shared pursuit of musical authenticity. Each brings unique expertise and ideas, but it is the remarkable synergy between them that gives the Boyer collection its distinctive character – and a sound of its own.

From the outset, the ambition has extended well beyond conventional distribution. Boyer works closely with its manufacturers to build their presence in the UK and Ireland — developing their brands, supporting marketing and advertising, cultivating relationships with dealers and the specialist press, and creating award-winning demonstration rooms at the country’s leading audio shows. These rooms are perhaps the clearest expression of his philosophy: bringing together extraordinary products to create something greater than the sum of their parts.

In 2025, Shunyata Research recognised that commitment by naming Boyer its Number One Distributor Worldwide. A fitting recognition of 10 years of work, and of an approach that now extends across the entire Boyer portfolio: not simply distributing products, but championing the people and ideas behind them, finding the connections between them, and helping each brand realise its full potential.

The Boyer Sound

Different makers. Different philosophies. One shared pursuit.

There is no single technology, design philosophy or sonic signature that defines the brands we represent. Each has its own approach, its own convictions, and its own ideas about what makes great sound.

Yet listen to a system assembled by Boyer Audio and a common character begins to emerge. One that values naturalness over spectacle, substance over exaggeration, and musical expression above all else.

Silence is where it begins.

Before we consider the music, we consider everything that might get in its way.

Noise reaches a system from every direction: through the mains, through the ground plane, and through every connection between one component and the next. Shunyata Research addresses all of it. Its power distributors, power cables, grounding hubs and signal cables each remove noise at a different point in the chain, so the noise floor of the whole system falls, not just one part of it.

The reward is not simply more detail, but greater ease. Subtle musical information emerges naturally, dynamics have room to breathe, and even the most demanding passages retain a sense of composure.

Beneath it all, Bassocontinuo’s audio racks give components a stable, inert place to stand, keeping mechanical vibration and resonance out of the picture as well.

The result is a completely silent stage on which the musical performance can take place.

“True silence doesn’t take anything away. It allows everything else to come through.”

Wadax Studio electronics
Cinnamon Galle

Digital without the distance.

Digital reproduction has achieved extraordinary levels of precision. But precision alone is not enough to make music feel alive.

To us, Wadax is simply the finest digital playback in the world. Its sources preserve the weight, texture and natural flow of a performance, revealing the finest details without ever drawing attention to the technology responsible for reproducing them. There is nothing else at this level.

Cinnamon belongs to a different conversation. Hand-built outside Lisbon by brothers Ricardo and Diogo Canelas, the Galle DAC and transport pair heavy cast metallurgy with tuning guided by classical musicians. They sound as they look—solid, tactile, and deeply natural, with razor-sharp timing. Free of screens and digital grain, Cinnamon is engineered for emotional connection: built to be lived with, and made to matter.

“All the precision of digital. None of the distance.”

Engström amplifier
Orpheus Lab

Power with a human touch.

Great amplification is a balancing act. It must provide authority without aggression, transparency without sterility, and control without constraining the music.

Engström approaches this through the elegance of valve amplification, combining openness and immediacy with the natural presence of acoustic instruments and voices.

Orpheus Lab takes a different path, using sophisticated solid-state engineering to deliver exceptional control, dynamic range and precision.

Both pursue the same elusive quality: the ability to reproduce music with conviction, while leaving its character intact.

“Power should be felt in the music, not heard in the equipment.”

Let the instruments speak.

A loudspeaker should reproduce the character of an instrument, not impose its own.

Kroma Atelier approaches loudspeaker design with an unusual sensitivity to materials and resonance. Its use of acoustically inert Krion, carefully selected woods and techniques inspired by traditional instrument-making reflects a belief that the physical construction of a loudspeaker is inseparable from its sound.

Just as much of it is in the crossovers, which Kroma’s founder Javier Millán designs to carry the emotion of a performance, not only its detail. It is the part of the loudspeaker you never see, and the reason a Kroma is more than the sum of its parts.

The ambition is to minimise the audible presence of the enclosure, allowing the harmonic richness, texture and natural decay of instruments to emerge without unwanted coloration.

“The less you hear the loudspeaker, the more you hear the music.”

Beyond the equipment.

Ultimately, the Boyer Sound is not about any one component, technology or manufacturer. It is about what happens when the right products come together, each contributing to something greater than itself.

Resolution without fatigue. Detail without exaggeration. Power without strain. A natural sense of space, texture and musical scale.

The aim is not to make a recording sound more impressive than it is, but to reveal what was there all along.

The character of the instruments. The acoustics of the room. The energy of the performance. The intention of the artist.
